    • proof a post (presumably of timber) gap location, discerned during archeological excavation from variations (color, texture, constituents, etc.) of earth when you look at the cavity in contrast to surrounding matrix earth. The cavity, providing as a mold for earth and debris (the fill earth) from background natural erosion and weathering, became filled as time passes, showing the approximate model of the erstwhile post.
