An aromatic hydrocarbon composed of a benzene with two methyl substituents
A hydrocarbon (C6H4(CH3)2) associated with aromatic show obtained as a colorless fluid by the distillation of camphor with zinc chloride. It's one of several three metamers of xylene. Cf. metamer, and xylene.
An oily hydrocarbon for the benzene series, C6H4(CH3)2; paradimethylbenzene. It's within tar-oil and Galician petroleum, and is also made synthetically. It boils at 138° C. It can be solidified in a freezing mixture, after which melts at 15° C.
