  • noun:
    • The inclusion of an audio, syllable or letter to the end of a word, either through normal development or as a grammatical purpose.
    • The addition of a letter or syllable on end of a word, as withouten for without.
    • Coaptation.
    • The inclusion, by development or accident, of a non-significant letter or syllable towards the end of a word: against prosthesis and apocope. Examples tend to be len-d, amongs-t, agains-t, whils-t, tyran-t. Also called epithesis and ectasis.
