    • The necessary protein component of the myelin sheath
    • A substance, resembling keratin, contained in neurological tissue, as in the sheath of the axis cylinder of medullated neurological fibers. Like keratin it resists the action of most chemical representatives, and by decomposition with sulphuric acid yields leucin and tyrosin.
    • A substance allied to ceratin.
