An Asiatic number of wild goat, closely associated with the most popular domestic goat, but having long, huge, spirally twisted horns; Capra falconeri, also known as C. megaceros and C. jerdoni.
Four subspecies are acknowledged, the extremes being represented by the Astor in addition to Suliman markhor. In the first, called from the village of Astor in northwestern Kashmir, the horns tend to be very long, huge, and develop an open spiral. In the Suliman variety, based in the Suliman range, the horns are relatively short and straight, because of the keel playing around all of them such as the bond of a screw.
