A shrub or little tree indigenous to brand new Zealand and southeast Australian Continent.
The timber for this plant.
Either Leptospermum scoparium, a low shrub, called white or scrub manuka, or L. ericoides, a tree, called red manuka. The wood regarding the latter is very difficult and durable and it is a favorite using natives in making spears, paddles, fishing-rods, etc. The leaves of L. scoparium are now and again made use of instead for beverage, whence it's called tea-tree.
