    • some of a course of enzymes that catalyze the linkage of two molecules, generally using ATP as power donor. Also referred to as synthetase.
    • Any of a small grouping of enzymes that catalyze the binding of two particles; synthetase.
    • An enzyme which catalyzes creation of a covalent relationship between two substrates, resulting in a more substantial item which is a mixture of the two beginning materials; particularly, DNA ligase, an enzyme which creates a phosphate bond between 5′ and 3′ ends of a DNA chain, resulting in a longer string of DNA. DNA ligase is very important in typical biosynthesis of DNA inside replication pattern of cells.
