    • An extensive group of strata, principally developed in Rocky Mountain region, as in the Laramie Mountains, and previously allowed to be for the Tertiary age, nevertheless now typically considered Cretaceous, or of intermediate and transitional personality. It has bedrooms of lignite, usually valuable for coal, and it is hence also referred to as the lignitic team. See Chart of geology.
