    • That section of theological research right initial to actual exegesis, or interpretation of Scripture.
    • That section of theological research directly preliminary to real exegesis, or explanation associated with Scriptures.
    • That division of theological research which treats of this publications forming the canon of Scripture, independently and collectively, their authorship, the date and place of their structure, their particular contents, style, motivation, and any specific questions related to all of them. Also called Biblical introduction.
