One of several types of large, crested ground pigeons of genus Goura, inhabiting brand new Guinea and adjacent islands. The Queen Victoria pigeon (Goura Victoria) and also the crowned pigeon (G. coronata) are one of the better recognized species.
The Conventional genus of crownpigeons of the Papuan subfamily Gourinæ. The best-known types is G. coronata. G. albertisi inhabits brand new Guinea, while G. victoria is situated in the adjoining islands of Jobie and Misory. Also called Lophyrus, Megapelia, and Ptilophyrus.
