The summertime crookneck is botanically a number of the pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo) and matures at the beginning of the season. Its pale-yellow in shade, with warty excrescences. The wintertime crookneck belongs to a distinct types (Cucurbita moschata) and is smooth and frequently striped.
