  • noun:
    • A disaccharide which created from the partial hydrolysis of cellulose.
    • A disaccharide, discovered just as a repeat device in cellulose, where two glucose products are accompanied with a 1, 4-β linkage
    • A biose, C12H22O11, obtained from cellulose because of the activity of acetic anhydrid and sulphuric acid and subsequent saponification. Whenever heated, it decomposes at 225° C. It decreases Fehling's solution, is dextrorotatory, and gives glucose on hydrolysis.
