A fishlike animal (Amphioxus lanceolatus), several ins long, present temperature seas; -- also known as the lancelet. Its human anatomy is directed at both finishes. It is the lowest and most generalized associated with the vertebrates, having neither mind, skull, vertebræ, nor red blood. It forms the sort of the team Acrania, Leptocardia, etc.
