Babinski reflex definition

  • noun:
    • An extension associated with great toe, occasionally with fanning associated with other feet, in response to stroking regarding the sole of foot. Its a standard response in infants, however it is usually involving a disturbance associated with the pyramidal system in children and adults. Also referred to as Babinski sign, Babinski's indication.
    • An abnormal plantar reflex where hallux moves upwards, indicative of engine neuron damage.
    • extension upward regarding the toes once the sole regarding the base is stroked solidly on outer side from the heel toward front side; typical in infants in chronilogical age of 2 yrs but an indication of brain or spinal-cord damage in older persons
